Biography:

Dr. Franchetti is an Associate Professor and the Associate Chair of the Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering Department at the University of Toledo.  In addition, he is the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Mechanical Engineering Program, the Director of Graduate Studies for the Online Master's Program in General Engineering, and the Director or Graduate Studies for the Master's Program in Energy Engineering.  He also is the Director of the Environmentally Conscious Design and Manufacturing Laboratory and Principal Investigator of the Business Waste Reduction Assistance Program, a joint effort with the Lucas County Solid Waste Management District.  Additionally, Dr. Franchetti is working as the Principal Investigator with the Health Science Campus at The University of Toledo to improve the business processes for renal implant patients by applying six-sigma concepts.

Dr. Franchetti received his Ph.D. in 2003 and MBA in 2000 from The University of Toledo.  He has worked as an industrial engineer and technical manager for the U.S. Postal Service in Washington DC, Pittsburgh, PA, and Columbus, OH and has conducted research at Chrysler, General Motors, and Ford before joining the MIME Department in the Fall of 2007.  Dr. Franchetti is Certified Six-Sigma Black Belt from the American Society of Quality (ASQ) and has consulting and research experience with over 25 companies across the country.  Dr. Franchetti has also served as an expert witness in legal proceedings related to human factors and ergonomics.
