Munich, Germany

What a journey. Holy crap. We hopped on the bus a little after 11pm and knew we couldn't go to sleep until after the Slovenian border. So, we got to the Slovenian border, had our passports checked and were off. Except we weren't. After a couple hours, we stopped for gas, then we stopped again at a gas station and finally - the German border. We handed in our ID's and passports just like normal. Then... the bus in front of us kicked someone off, threw their luggage out and drove off. Passports were handed back to us... then the bus turned off. We were not going anywhere. The police came over the announcements, said some stuff in German, and then said someone's name. The guy in front of me got up, grabbed all his belongings, and got off the bus. He was searched and screened. 30 minutes later, we all had to get off the bus and everything that was on the bus was searched. We stood in the freezing cold, on the German border, for just over an hour. And then, finally, we were on our way!

Once we got to Munich, we met up with my dad at the hotel, talked, and I showered (much needed). After that we checked out the Marienplatz and the Residence. At the Marienplatz, we got to experience the bells and the royal wedding play on the tower. At the Residence, there were so many rooms that it took forever to go through. Then we got hungry and went to a beer hall - very cool and very loud.

For dinner, we went to the hotel restaurant because it was raining. But, it was great! We met a couple from California currently living in Florida. Then we found out the guy was CEO for a headphone company. He was in Germany for a trade show and back surgery. They were a great couple and super fun to sit next to at dinner.

Overall a long and tiring first day in Munich. Michael heads to Tulsa tomorrow to start orientation for his internship. Then, 1 week! I can't wait to be back home with him. For now, goodnight!
