Faux Space: Windchime
To create this faux space image image, left, I first used a mask to create
a black background. Then, I used the brush to create a hole in the mask
in roughly the size and shape of the planets that I wanted before going
back and adjusting the edges to be more or less feathered. I also used
this mask as a way to add a dark spot on the largest planet. The stars
were created using a simliar method, only using a much smaller brush.
I added the black and white filter first, then added an orange gradient,
starting with the darkest hue in the bottom right. The gradient was
moved to the layer below the black and white filter, giving more contrast
to certain areas representing the “continents” of the planets. To finish, I
increased the brigjtmess of the image as a whole to further differentiate
the planets and stars from the dark area around them.
