Jazz was the second type of dance I ever started, beginning around the age of 9. I can recall my first jazz costume, a sparkly neon yellow
and green one piece with tan jazz shoes. We performed to a Miley Cyrus song for recital that year, totally 2000s. I have yet to stop
pursuing this style because it still remains a part of my dance team criteria. If my mom had never decided to place me into a jazz class at
a young age, I would not be where I am at today in my dance world. Dance team would have not even been a thought when beginning
college if I did not have jazz technique under my belt. Jazz has never been my favorite style of dance but it allowed me to pursue pom,
which I would consider related styles but with technical deferences of course. My 9 years of jazz training and technique definitely paid
off. Thinking back on the dreaded jazz technique classes, I realize it was worth the exhaustion that I had to go through or else my current
experiences with dance would not have been possible.
