At the age of 4, I never would have guessed that the first style my mom placed me in would become my all time favorite.
Who would have guessed that making noises with my feet would have such a huge impact on my life. I can remember all of my
tap teachers, costumes, dance routines, extra tap classes I took with famous instructors, doing tap performances at talent
shows, etc. However, tap is a very under-appreciated form that does not get much recognition which is very upsetting
considering the amount of dedication, time, and effort it takes to progress and perfect steps, rhythms, and counts. It is such
a powerful form of dance and so much emotion can be communicated just by using your feet to create noise. Making rhythms
and sounds with my feet has to be one of the things I am most proud of to this day. It is not easy to achieve and individuals
who can not tap find you to be very impressive if you can. Unfortunately, I have not tapped in about a year and a half after
graduation and beginning college, and I miss being able to practice this form of dance every week. In the future, I hope to be
able to find the time to take classes again at my studio so my love for this dance form will not vanish.
