Hello, I am Azucena. I am from Mexico, but I have been living in Toledo for 16 years now. I currently work at Starbucks, and I love my job. I am basically a coffee addict. I like to go to local coffee shops the most because I feel like they have better coffee. Rust Belt is my favorite coffee shop in Toledo. Photography and film has always been one of my passions. I was just too scared to chose this as my major because of all the people that told me how hard it would be to get a job. Doing something that I love to do for the rest of my life no matter what does not sound too bad, ya know? As far as art I love to create, I love to mostly take pictures of nature. I love the way the trees form silhouettes when it begins to get dark. I visit the metro parks around the area really often and take pictures. I am not quite sure yet of what kind of photography I want to do after school, maybe I’ll do a little bit of both commercial and freelance. I am looking forward into getting better at what I love doing. Creating stuff all the time is something I definitely have to work on to be successful.
As an artist, I like to capture timeless moments. Most of my work right now is of nature and my surroundings. One recent kind of work that has been the most interesting for me is capturing old buildings of my city, Toledo. The burt oranges, reds, and the broken windows are so interesting to look at. The old buildings lead me to wonder what they once were for and what happened for them to get so worned out and abondoned. I hope you can wonder with me through my photos.
