I am currently a multimedia artist. I focus mostly in digital art and ceramics, but enjoy doing any form of art. I have struggled with depression and anxiety from a young age and doing art was an outlet to help me through it. Learning about and creating art was able to help me control my emotions and offered a healthy way to release them. Through my digital illustrations I was able to interact with my personal experiences as well as my interests. While through my ceramics and drawn art I am able to explore form as well as new textures.
Since a young age I have been curious and intrigued by the act of defacement. This peaked my curiosity because I did not understand why it happened until I researched it.
Defacement has been a part of human history for thousands of years — an act of rebellion and a form of communication. This distortion and physical manipulation includes graffiti, altering paintings, and dismembering parts of sculptures. I am interested in this act of “spoiling” a surface as a means of discovery and reexamining existing imagery and form.
